Sunday 26th July 2026 09:00am – 5.6 miles – Strenuous
Upper Burbage

Upper Burbage Bridge – Higger Tor – Over Owler Tor – Padley Gorge – Upper Burbage Bridge. We shall depart from
Upper Burbage Bridge Car Park, Ringinglow Road (O.S. 260830) at 10:15am. If you are going straight there, please let us
know. The first half of the walk comprises typical Derbyshire edge walking conditions, i.e. boulders and bizarre shaped
rocky and stoney paths. There are several short, steep rocky climbs up to Higer Torr and over Over Owler Tor with some
scrambling and hands and knees for those with shorter legs! Inevitably there are short, steep, rocky descents down the
other side(s). There are spectacular views all day, if the weather is kind. As the walk is very exposed to the elements, we
might decide to seek an alternative walk if the weather is awful. The second half takes us into the Longshaw Estate along
the river at the top end of Padley Gorge. The final 1.5 miles is along a firm, easy, steadily rising gravel track (“Sheffield
Country Walk”). Strenuous walk with 302m (940ft) total climb.
