Sunday 4th January 2026 - 09:30am – 6.3 miles – Easy
Farnsfield Heritage Trail

As this walk is the first walk of 2026 it gives us the opportunity to celebrate together the start of our 2026 programme. I will provide a bottle of bubbly (bring your own small glass) and invite others to bring along a contribution (Christmas leftovers, mince pies, sausage rolls, crisps etc.)

The walk will set off from the Southwell Trail in Farnsfield at 9.45am and should accommodate all abilities as it circles Farnsfield village, following the newish Village Heritage Trail and offers  return options to the start point throughout.

Option 1: Southwell trail-Hexgreave Hall and Deer Park-Southwell Trail 3.7 Miles Flat

Option 2: Southwell trail-Hexgreave Hall and Deer Park-HadleighPark-QuakerLane (opportunity to return to the start)-Halifax Bomber Memorial-return to the village green (opportunity to visit The Lion for a celebratory drink)-continue to the start. 6 miles Flat.

Option 3: Continue from the village green across fields to the White Post Inn, N.along the A614 to return to the start point along the Southwell trail (Rainworth-Farnsfield section) 8.5 miles Flat.

Non-combatants are welcome to join us at the Lion (12.30-1.00pm.)

Saturday 10th January 2026 - 09:00am – 7 miles – Easy

Poulter Country Park

Mainly firm under foot with no stiles. Using the Poulter Country Park car park, we skirt the park in woodland. Using tracks and field paths, we reach Cuckney Hay Woods and the Arch Way to return to the start.

Sunday 18th January 2026 - 09:00am - 6 to 7miles – Easy

Erewash Valley

An easy winter walk in the Ilkeston/Trowell/ Cossall area. The precise route will be determined nearer the time

depending on the weather & conditions underfoot.

Easy with minimal ascent and stiles.

A Walk Within Nottinghamshire

An easy 5 mile (approx.) walk normally within Nottinghamshire or very close to border of county. Easy going pace and contours to suit all. For details contact the walk leader the weekend before the walk, There will be time for a self-service refreshment stop. Walks are normally in the countryside but can include anything that Nottinghamshire has to offer. We try to avoid roads but can include quiet country lanes or villages.

Easy circular walk.

Sunday 1st February 2026 - 08.30am – 6.75 miles – Moderate

Windgather Rocks

A small but dramatic gritstone crag standing above the Goyt Valley, with fine views over Cheshire and the mountains of the Dark Peak. It’s the centrepiece of this walk that heads up from Toddbrook Reervoir just outside the small town of Whaley Bridge. The return route crosses the edge of Goyt Forest and Taxal Moor.

Saturday 7th February 2026 - 09.00am – 5 miles – Moderate

Grindleford

Starting from Grindleford Station our route takes us through ancient woodland, Padley Gorge and past Carl Walk Fort to the high point Higger Tor. The return route has fine views over Hope Valley passing abandoned millstones on our return journey. Generally well used paths but some rough bouldery conditions. Can be boggy on the moor.

Sunday 15th February 2026 - 09:00am – 5 miles – Strenuous

Eyam Moor Walk

Starting from William Hill Road (1 mile uphill from Grindleford, at the point where it becomes a gravel, unmade road).

A moorland walk with fine views to Stoke Ford through Mill Wood, to Hazelford Hall and then back over the moor to William Hill Road. A 5-mile walk with some quite strenuous uphill sections.

Sunday 1st March 2026 - 09.00am – 7 miles – Moderate

Lathkill Dale

A classic limestone dale the river Lathkill flows along it and provides some lovely wooded landscapes. The route drops into Lathkill Dale via Cales Dale and follows excellent paths and tracks along the dale. From Conksbury Bridge some lane walking followed by field paths back to the start.

Chesterfield

Starting in the centre of Chesterfield we pass Tapton House and Ringwood Lake along the Chesterfield Canal following the Cookoo Way.

Belph Brook (Welbeck)

Look for the Farm Shop entrance at Welbeck S80 3LL.

A circular walk through fields to the nearby hamlet of Belph, with a picturesque stream and quintessential village (!) which continues on to South Tunnel Lodge.

Accessibility: The walk includes a range of surfaces, with some slight inclines, fields, country road crossings and uneven stretches.
